ExpressionEngine provides a strong foundation for managing their online presence. 50,000feet, a Chicago-based design agency, enlisted Masuga Design to implement their site design for the internationally-known architectural firm Lucien Lagrange Architects. We took their Photoshop files and created a lightweight standards-compliant site that uses healthy doses of the jQuery to enhance the user’s experience, and then tied those templates to the content in ExpressionEngine.
The site requirements, which includes a client-controlled navigation structure, are every bit as exacting as Lagrange’s architecture. The portfolio has a very highly-customized lightbox that resizes the images to fit the visitor’s available browser area.
Using ExpressionEngine, the staff can create complex relationships between various entries, yet keep the maintenance of the site relatively straightforward. We extended EE’s functionality by writing an extension to modify the Control Panel so the editors would have an easier time maintaining certain areas of the site. We also developed the homepage Flash to read EE-generated dynamic XML files.
